On December 4, 2024, the day before the 34th Dresden Packaging Conference, which is organized annually by the German Packaging Institute (DVI) as the year-end event for the German packaging industry, we, together with our partner watttron, opened the doors to an open house at our shared location in the Freital Technology Center. Located just 10 minutes by train from Dresden Central Station, about 70 participants joined us, contributing to a successful event.

High-Quality Presentations and Exciting Insights

A special highlight of our open house was the presentation by Dr. Henry Drut, our founder and managing director. In his talk, he shared his expertise on the use of paper as a packaging material and outlined the challenges and solutions we face in developing innovative forming shoulders. His remarks underscored our relentless pursuit of technological excellence.

In addition, Tobias Nitsche, our authorized officer and project engineer, presented creative design possibilities for horizontal packaging machines. His presentation, “Unique Forming Elements for Horizontal Pouch Packaging Machines,” impressively showcased how we consistently utilize these technologies.

The inspiring conclusion was provided by Tony Schult, another experienced project engineer on our team, with a talk on integrating sustainability into all stages of process design—using the example of a paper format set for a VFFS (Vertical Form, Fill & Seal) machine. His contribution illustrated how we actively contribute to creating sustainable packaging solutions and shaping a more environmentally friendly future.

Beyond these forming shoulder-specific topics, watttron, together with various partners, showcased their modern new digital sealing technologies at other stations. Thomas Groener from TG Pack Solutions provided a brief and understandable overview of the PPWR.

Festive Atmosphere and Collective Engagement

In addition to innovative ideas, our open house also embraced the festive season. Our participants enjoyed the special Christmas ambiance and took advantage of the relaxed atmosphere, including an evening BBQ and live music, to establish valuable connections.

A key concern for our visitors was the production of wrinkle-free and undamaged packaging in the barrier sector. We demonstrated how these challenges can be effortlessly overcome with our developments and technologies. Practical solutions impressed with their added value for our customers’ production processes. Where there had previously been a certain unease or even fear among users, we were undoubtedly able to dispel those doubts during this afternoon.
